Looking forward to seeing some photos, actually I picked up one also from the states a few years back when postage etc wasn’t too bad. How did you find the buying process through Facebook (assuming a group?) did the purchase incur vat or duties (interested as I’m in a few groups!)

I bought it off someone on my own Facebook group " 1970s vintage skateboards " if you've ever seen it , I got it off someone who sells a fair few skateboard bits , 195 us dollars plus 65 us dollars for expedited shipping so 260 so about 195 quid all in he took PayPal or e-transfer , I always pay PayPal goods and services which you are fully covered if it doesn't arrive etc , usually they take a few percent out of the money as a fee ( out of the buyers money) , I asked him if he could put a low value of say 20/30 dollars on packet so I wouldn't have to pay a lot of duty and that , which he has done and he says he's paid the customs duty on it his side so that'll be good , paying people bank transfer or PayPal friends and family is no good as if anything goes wrong you get nowt back , if it's someone you know like people on here I've paid bank transfer , but PayPal is the best even if they say you'll have to pay the PayPal fees you're better doing that as you can't lose , here's the one I got attached

I was looking at a deck on USA eBay and as you know eBay collect all the vat duties up front , and post and duties were more than the actual board

I've noticed on my own Facebook page id say half the sales posts what try to get put on are scammers who have just copied the photos from somewhere else , after a bit you can just spot the scammer posts , someone even copied my pic where I have all the Benjy boards lined up asking if anyone wanted to buy and he posted on my own Facebook page

ebays a complete rip off nowadays,if you sell anything to another country then they charge you fees for selling out of the uk,the buyer also gets charged fees their end for buying out of their country,then of course theres the import fees if the seller will only post with ebays global shipping,and the cost of the postage is a total rip off as ebay charge you for it being sent to ebays own sorting centre and then again for sending it over here to the uk,the service is the worst possible and takes at least 3 weeks,ive had stuff sent with ups and get it in 3 days for less money than ebay charge! i dont know how they have the nerve to charge anything for a 3rd rate service

Thanks for sharing how you got on purchasing your Maherajah, definitely worth knowing who you’re buying off and as you mentioned most scammers are easily recognised especially for regular followers of yours and other groups!

I have recently purchased a G&S team rider off ebay from the states, this board had never been set up and is basically new old stock, needing a clean / wipe over with a few storage marks. The seller excepted a best offer which enabled me to purchase with only paying vat, as customs is the killer on top of the overpriced postage!

Board was £122.14
Vat £31.41
Postage £34.46 US $46.55
Total £195.29 Or $253.85

So not cheap but most uk boards are knackered or over priced !

Postage for completes is very expensive from the States but reflects the extra weight, also location can push up further, not forgetting the internal journey to ebays processing facility!
Hopefully I’m correct that anything over £125 includes vat and duties too!

ive had a few nos bowl riders and team riders over the yrs,reds,yellow,turquoise etc but all sold now apart from my orange one,i heard once that orange ones were only for official riders on the team hence why they are rare but ive never confirmed that,any ideas?
ive never owned a maharaja,they were certainly a popular board in the states back then
